EB: Oodles of Doodles

EB's provide children and teachers the opportunity to explore a topic, they enjoy over several one hour sessions. The EB I am doing this Spring is Oodles of Doodles. This EB was created for children to have the chance to explore drawing without trying to create a final product. There is only one rule. You can not tear a page out of your sketch book. Instead, you try to learn from your mistakes and figure out what you would change so it is more what you want.

Along with making our own sketches, we are looking at sketches made by famous artists, noting how they try out ideas, draw objects from various perspectives, and practice their drawing techniques.

Many artists are also collectors. The objects they collect often inspire their art. We watch the first part of a video of Elizabeth Blackadder, in which she talks about things that inspire her and some of the objects from around the world that she has in her studio. Thursday, the children brought in an object from home they were interested in sketching.

Other EBs this Spring include: of Picture This 2 with Val, Outdoor Adventures with Shan, and It's DAHLicious, with Susan.
