Science?

In the fall, the science program focused on Life Science.  Now, we are exploring the Physical Sciences.  We started learning about "Force".  

The first task was for the children to write down as many ways they could think of to move a pencil.  Then we watched part of a DVD that explained there are two types of force: push and pull. The children went back to their list and determined which of their ideas were "push" and which were "pull".  For instance, if they wrote the wind could move the pencil, that is a push force. 

The photos above show the children experimenting with Force, the concept of push and pull, what happens when there is equal force.  For instance, you need equal force to build a house of cards.   

In the coming days, we will be looking at the ideas of Sir Isaac Newton.
