Today we went to Jo-ann Fabric to buy cloth. This was our first step in a pillow making project we are doing. It was also a very brief introduction to a measurement unit we will be starting soon, since each child had to buy 1/2 yard of fabric.
Some skills we practiced on this trip were:
-good shopping etiquette: being patient while waiting in line, using polite language, walking and talking (vs running and shouting)
-making decisions (from many options)
-estimating: we tried to estimate what our total bill would be
Our next step is to get out the sewing machine and turn the fabric into pillows.
