Thank you to Avi and her mother, Krista, for bringing in 6 of their chicks for us to see, hold, and learn about. When the chicks came, on Thursday, they were just 3 days old.
Many of the children knew:
Roosters are male chickens
Hens are female chickens and
chicks are baby chickens
We all learned some new vocabulary for chickens.
We learned that:
male chicks are called cockerels
female chicks are called pullets
One of the most important things we learned was to treat the chicks with care.
