Portfolios

Today, I gave the children their portfolios.

This is one of my favorite times of the year.  The children are so excited to look through the photos of things they have done during the year.  They peruse the binders, talking to each other about events they had almost forgotten.  One child was intrigued to see how her writing had changed.  Another asked who was in a photo with him and was surprised to discover they were younger versions of his friends.

It is amazing to see how young they looked in the fall.  They have grown so much physically, emotionally, and intellectually.

The portfolios are a collection of photographs and work samples from the year.   Since much of the work in first and second grade is experiential, hands on activity,
the photographs help depict experiences that are not represented in written assignments.

I hope you enjoy looking at this with your child and hearing about all the times we shared together at Summers Knoll this year.
