Rights and Responsibilities

It is always interesting to get the children's perspective on topics.  Brainstorming gives children the opportunity to express their ideas without worrying about a right or wrong answer.

During a brainstorming session at morning gathering, the children came up with a list of their rights and responsibilities as members of the Summers-Knoll community:

Rights:
To learn
To do what we are supposed to do, like homework
To play when it's time to play
If you are not well you can go home
To be safe

Responsibilities:
To be careful with materials
Follow teacher's instructions
Stay with the teacher
Be quiet when others are trying to work
Get homework done when it's supposed to be brought back
Be responsible for your things
Listen to friends

(It is always fascinating to see homework discussed since it is such a small part of their experience.)
