Barn building

As a wrap up to the fall "farm to table" theme, our class tried to build a cardboard barn.  

Over the month, we have been looking at photographs of barns by Mary Keithan in her book Michigan's Heritage Barns.

Monday afternoon the class made drawings of barns and then we headed out to our woods to try and construct a barn with big pieces of cardboard and many rolls of tape.  There was a quick consensus that the stand of trees would make a great location.  Then construction began.  There were successes and failures, great team work and sense of accomplishment when the roof went on.  

Unfortunately, as soon as the finish product was photographed a breeze came through and blew off the roof.
